If you thought that your teen with Autism or Learning Differences had no possibility of going to camp this summer because of COVID-19, happily, you are wrong!
The College Internship Program (CIP)
is offering a new virtual summer program, called Summer
Sessions @CIP for teens and young adults with autism, ADHD, and other learning differences.
CIP has elected to offer this two-week alternative to their traditional summer programs, as a safer alternative to in person camp, due to COVID-19.
The virtual program will be offered Monday-Friday July 20th-31st. Students from around the country
and around the world are expected to enroll. The program will be set up to allow for students in different time
zones. The program will be geared to the needs and interests of students who learn
differently.
CIP specializes in the educational needs of teens and young adults with autism and learning
differences, and has been doing this for over 35 years, offering year-round and summer
transition programs with great support since 1984. CIP has also been offering its supportive and fun-filled summer
programs for teens and young adults for over 10 years.
This summer is different, though, for all of us.
"As we navigate through this unprecedented time, CIP is staying highly relevant by reinforcing
the key skills our students need as we adapt to the 'new normal' in a very personalized way,"
commented CIP President Dan McManmon. "We have been a trusted leader in the field with our
cutting-edge program offerings," he continued. "Our new virtual summer program will be done in
typical CIP fashion; crafted to the unique interests of our amazing students with a heavy
emphasis on fun, learning, and making social connections."
Students in the new virtual camp program will have an exciting and quality online experience. As they
might in person, they will learn key transition strategies including independent living skills,
healthy habits, and college
readiness, from CIP's expert and empathetic staff. Our staff has been trained to help transfer this
learning experience to a remote platform with a mix of individual small and large group
gatherings in a safe, structured environment.
The tight-knit group of selected students will have opportunities to make friends and
social connections while taking part in Netflix parties, virtual escape rooms, and scavenger
hunts among other fun activities. Parent workshops will also be offered.
