The Porter Academy sees each child as unique and precious. By addressing the needs of the whole child, we help them develop in all areas, not just those where they need support.
Through a multi-sensory and language-rich learning program, children in grades K-5 receive special help in reading, writing, spelling and math. In addition, co-curricular classes such as P.E., occupational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, performing arts and nature encourage creativity, individuality and help build life-skills that are often undeveloped in children with learning difficulties.
The Porter Academy's program provides the children with the structure they need to learn. We maintain low teacher/student ratios, a planner system to help our students stay organized and a unique reward system that focuses on positive reinforcement and self-esteem.
The beautiful 3-acre wooded campus is located at 200 Cox Road in Roswell, one mile west of the Crabapple Silos. It includes an internet equipped computer lab, 2,000+ volume library, O.T. Center, nature trail and two playground areas.
Camp Extraordinaire:The Porter Academy Summer Program offers cross-curricular, integrated, thematic units. Students reinforce and improve their reading and math skills while enjoying fun, high interest content that incorporates science, social studies and art. Cooperative games and social skills also have a heavy emphasis. Students are completely immersed in one particular theme for one week.
