ADD Specialty Psychiatrist
Dr. Schwartz is a psychiatrist specializing in Adult Attention Defiicit Disorder (ADD). He received his initial training at Yale Medical School, then specialized at the University of Washington. In addition to his clinical work with patients he lectures and has published on the subject of Adult ADD.
Dr. Schwartz employs a combination of medications and focused behavioral therapy to treat the difficulties adults with ADD experience. These difficulties include:
- procrastination
- work-related issues - inability to complete work in a timely manner, punctuality, etc.
- distractability
- problems with task completion (finishing projects)
Of course, there are many others and treatment objectives are tailored to the individual. Part of the initial assessment includes a review of exactly which behaviors the individual wants to change.
For many patients, medication becomes the cornerstone of treatment. Dr. Schwartz works with patients to determine need for and optimal dose of:
- Adderall
- Ritalin and Concerta
- Dexedrine
|
- Wellbutrin
- Strattera
- Provigil
|
Whether medications alone, therapy alone or a combination is used depends on the individual patient. However, most patients find that the right program leads to a significant improvement in their ability to complete work both on the job and and at home.
