Psychological, Psychoeducational, and Neuropsychological Assessment

Dr. Stacey Nelson is a licensed psychologist who specializes in the assessments of learning disorders, attention deficit disorders, and developmental disorders for children, adolescents, and adults. She has been providing assessments in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2001 and helps parents, children, educators, and other professionals understand both the strengths and challenges of each client.

An assessment involves an in-depth clinical interview, collateral contacts with teachers or other relevant professionals, review of previous records, administration of standardized tests, a comprehensive report, a detailed feedback session to the client and his or her family, as well as contact with and feedback to referring providers.

Dr. Nelson can help you, or your child, better identify and understand the nature of the following problems:

  • Learning problems, including reading, math, and writing disorders
  • Language disorders, including expressive and receptive language problems
  • Atttention deficit disorders, including all subtypes of AD/HD
  • Executive function disorders
  • Psychological issues, such as depression and anxiety
  • Behavioral problems

My goal is to understand each client's strengths and limitations thoroughly and to provide feedback that clients, and other referring professionals, can use so that each client can reach his or her potential.

I am also proud to offer Cogmed, an evidenced-based working memory training program that has been shown to improve attention, as well as behaviors that are typically problematic for clients with AD/HD.
