KIATOU
More than a Wilderness Therapy Program.

Our program, for boys only, age 14 to 19, could also be called "A Behaviour Exchange Program" or "An Emotional Growth Program". It is designed in such a way as to assist the youth to acquire essential life skills. Our students learn the importance of accountability, effective communication, appropriate coping skills and the importance of participating in the every day task of "running a home"..

Our students are strongly encouraged to write daily in their journal, read and discuss the quotes from the novel "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens". They must complete our "Student Work Book" and prepare "Parents Day".

We strongly believe that it helps our students develop positive independence, self-awareness and accountability in their everyday life.

It helps the youth realise that living can be a wonderful experience, that teamwork, responsibilities and sharing bring a sense of personal worth, fulfillment, pride and happiness.

Kiatou is a small centre operating year round on a rolling enrollment. Our basic program is 6 weeks, the average stay is 8 weeks and we also offer extended stay. On average 21 days of the first 42 days are spent in the wilderness.
